Preliminary Task Planning

Cat Food Mission - Preliminary Task Planning

During the planning process for the preliminary task, my group (Laura, Sabrina and Georgia) and I decided that we should create a brainstorm of the various ideas of what we should produce. Some examples of our ideas are below:

  • Torture
  • Marriage Proposal
  • Job interview
  • Spy Mission
  • Robbery
We eventually decided to choose the Spy Mission. This was because the idea only required two people to have a conversation. We chose Georgia Waley (SUPERIOR) and Laura Bishop (SPY) as the actors. If we later found that we needed more actors, then we would ask drama students.

We chose to film our preliminary task around the school as it was a convenient place and it fits our idea........you never know where spy head quarters could be.

My First Time Filming and Editing

My First Time Filming and Editing

When I filmed for the first time, I felt like a fish out of water as I didn't know how to use the camera properly. The first thing my group and I did was film different shots however we didn't want to remove the camera from the tripod in fear of breaking the equipment. I noticed that when I filmed, I would watch the live action rather than watching it through the camera, making sure I got everything into the shot.

Editing for the first time was exciting but quite hard to wrap my head around as there are loads of different functions and features that are available. We decided to use Serif Movie Plus X 6. We used this to cut each shot to our desired length and made sure that each shot flowed smoothly into one another therefore keeping the editing continuous however because it was my first time using this software, the editing didn't turn out as I would have liked. Having the opportunity to try this software out means that I can now familiarize myself with the different available functions.

Brief of the requirements for our AS Media Coursework

Brief

Outline of the Requirements for our AS Media Coursework

Preliminary: This is a task where we have to film a character opening a door, walking across the space and sitting down in a chair opposite another character. The characters then have to engage in a conversation as well as a shot reverse shot, match on action and stick to the 180 degree rule to ensure continuity.

Main Task: This task must be an opening sequence to a film (genre is our choice), including the opening credits. The opening sequence has to be a maximum of two minutes. All material produced has to be original (video and audio) so that we do not breach any copyright laws. Both tasks can be completed in groups of up to four people.

Evaluation Questions: These are the questions that we will answer to evaluate and reflect on the work we produced.
